Welcome

Hi ! My name is Richard and you have arrived at my travel journal.

You can read all of spiel and find out more about me here. I've been travelling the world now for a few months armed with a bag of clothes, a laptop and my incredibly unreliable digital camera. Enjoy the blog and contact me if you'd like to join the scores of people abusing me.

On the open road (sort of)

Who could of known. Picture the scene. I arise from my slightly soiled bed in a zombie like state to the b&b landlady banging down my door demanding I vacate the room. I finally get myself together and look onwards to the next chapter of my journey. Edinburgh was my target but my mode of travel was still undecided. The hours ticked by and as I sipped my coffee I thought screw public transport I’m going to drive myself down there.

You see I came equipped for this journey with my sat nav in tow. OK it will probably only be useful throughout the UK but as long as I have it I can’t get lost right. I sought out the nearest car hire place and got a nice but moderate car to take me onto to Edinburgh.

travel-inn.jpgViva la resistance my sat nav made an appearance. I tapped in Edinburgh and was mildly humoured by the result. Maybe I should have listened more in Geography ! After I had repeated the destination 5 more times it dawned on me that Scotland and the almighty Edinburgh were in fact 400 miles away and it would take me 7 hours to get there !!!

At the moment I’m penned up at the premier travel inn just about to set off for another days worth of travel. I’ll be there by tonight hopefully and I’ll definitely be consulting my sat nav before anymore rash car hiring decisions.
